On March 9, 2012 join the teams from St. Joseph's College and Mount Carmel College, as they discuss, debate, and make you think about the future of India as she struggles to protect the environment and attain her development goals.

The GreenKarbon Debate promises to be exciting, particularly given the fact that the "Development Vs Environment" debate in the parliament, in the cabinet and in the media shows no sign of abating.

The stage is set. Teams from St. Joseph's and Mount Carmel will battle it out at the GreenKarbon College Debate 2012. Who will win? The environment or development?

The GreenKarbon inter-college debate, Bangalore will be held on March 9, 2012. The proposition is: "This house believes that exaggerated ecological and climate change concerns are impeding India's economic growth."

At the heart of our purpose is the objective of conflict resolution, which we hope will result when subjects that usually generate considerable heat are liberally embellished with light too. Tightly moderated and with strict rules, the proceedings are adapted from the iconic Oxford Union Debates that have been held regularly for over a century. The event promises to be exciting, particularly given the fact that the "Development Vs Environment" debate in the parliament, in the cabinet and in the media shows no sign of abating.

• 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The GreenKarbon Debate
