About Earthian

Earthian is Wipro's sustainability programme for schools and colleges. Youth from across the world needs to be at the vanguard and to act as a role model to demonstrate how it is possible to grow national wealth in a sustainable manner.

'earthian Sustainability Program for Schools and Colleges' is designed to act as a catalyst for fostering excellence in sustainability thinking and doing amongst young people.

The annual awards program is a first step towards a deeper engagement with children and young adults in schools and colleges.

Programme

i) Interaction with the authors of "Himalayan" a journey through the lens

Sandesh Kadur  - Sandesh Kadur is an Indian film maker, specializing in films about wildlife and environment. His films have been shown on television networks including National Geographic Channel, BBC, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.

Dr. Kamal Bawa - Distinguished Professor of Biology at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Founder-President  - Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE). Recipient of Gunnerus Sustainability Award - the world's first major international award for work on sustainability.

ii) A talk by Anil Ananthaswamy 

Anil is a correspondent for New Scientist in London. He has a background in IT industry in Silicon Valley and later trained as a journalist at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He's the author of The Edge of Physics.”

iii) Premiere of play "Robots Unlimited"

Directed by Bangalore Little Theatre and performed by last year’s winning schools

iv) A talk by Kalyan Verma

Freelances with the BBC Natural History and National Geographic Channel (India), and also works with grassroots NGO's to highlight environmental issues in India. He won the Sanctuary Wildlife Photographer of the Year award in 2005.His film Secrets of Wild India won the 'Best TV series' at the International Wildlife Film Festival in Missoula

v) Music Concert by Swarathma

vi) Water source and quality programme

All attending college and school teams will get a water testing kit
