Background

The Farmers First paradigm of ICAR has encouraged greater appreciation of farmers' situation and led to the development of farmer friendly site specific technologies for different agro-ecological regions of India. Conservation of natural resources is an issue of utmost concern more so in the changing climate scenario for ensuring sustainable development and improvement of livelihood securities.

Themes

The conference shall deliberate on the following theme areas through three different technical sessions:
1. Soil and water conservation in different agro-ecosystems in the region (Hill, coastal, plain and pleateau regions).
2. Impact assessment of S & W conservation practices on productivity and livelihood security.
3. Institutional and governance issues for S & W conservation.
4. Gender mainstreaming and social issues for soil and water conservation.

Based on the above themes, presentation of the farmer's experiences and posters of the participants shall be conducted through the following sessions during the conference.

Call for papers

Unlike other conferences, here selected farmers will be given the opportunity to deliver their views and experiences on soil and water conservation through oral presentations.

Extended abstracts are invited from participants, on reporting the results of education/outreach activities, research or lessons learned from farmer's experience on soil and water conservation on the above four themes. This should include title (14 pts bold), author(s) 12 pts bold), affiliation (12 pts italic normal), mailing address, telephone, fax and e-mail (12 pts normal). The abstract should be typed, double spaced in English in MS Word with 10 pts normal text and should be limited to 1000 words. The extended abstract should reach the 'Organizing Secretary, FFCSWR' by January, 31st  2013.

Authors are requested to send both the hard and soft (preferably by e-mail) copies of their abstract and paper by the due dates. Mode of presentation of the selected abstracts will be exclusively through poster presentations only.

Registration

Registration fee is Rs.1500/- for delegates and Rs.750/- for students and farmers.

However, invited farmers will be exempted from registration fee. Payments in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of Organizing Secretary, FFCSWR payable at State Bank of India, Cantonment Branch (IFSC: SBIN0013439), Bellary should reach the Organizing Secretary by January, 31st 2013.

Accommodation

Accommodation arrangements will be made for the selected farmers and invited speakers. On request, accommodation arrangements for all other participants shall be made on payment basis at nearby guesthouses and hotels on first come-first served basis. The organizers shall not take any responsibility for return journey reservations.

Dr. K.G. Tejwani Memorial Lecture

The Association has initiated Dr. K.G. Tejwani Memorial Lecture Since April 2012. During the present conference, the lecture will be delivered by Dr. R. Dwarakinath, Chairman, AME Foundation on 14th March, 2013.
