3rd Annual India H2O Conference 2012, May 23-24, 2012, Mumbai

Organization: ASAPP Media Information Group

Venue: The Orchid, Mumbai

For the first time in history, India is marching towards rapid urbanization under a deliberate policy. The creation of new cities, conversion of rural into urban areas, development of existing cities, and the continued growth and creation of waterdependent industries will require intense coordination with infrastructure, including water supply. This year, India's Union Ministry of Water Resources is reviewing the National Water Policy. Private players are awaiting a fortification of policies and revising thinking in implementation of viable water supply. A national water map is being developed to divine the availability with much more accuracy. In recent times, water has emerged as a highly-debated sector in infrastructure amidst the growing concerns. How can policymakers attract better private interest in India's water resource development and make the supply viable? How can local bodies, both urban and rural, be better empowered? Why are new technologies in water largely being employed at industrial levels alone? Will desalination work for India? Is the government doing enough to map water resources around the country? Are the available water information systems adequate?

Theme: Pipelining the nation - How a quantum leap will transform urban and industrial water.

Conference Chair: Mr. Ramani Iyer, Forbes Marshall Ltd.

The objectives of 3rd Annual India H2O Conference 2012 are to help understand new policies, bring policymakers and stakeholders on a single platform, understand existing and potential opportunities under PPP, PUP and viable solutions, discuss pricing and assumed supply, present new technologies and about the effective implementation of existing ones, discuss operational trends in the sector, and raise awareness on critical sustainability issues. Above all, we would like to be a platform for solutions in a developing water market.

Delegates each year have comprised a mix of government officials (representatives from the water department in cities, districts and states), private developers and contractors, project managers, finance professionals, consultants, analysts, technology and service providers, and manufacturers.
