Arid Communities and Technologies (ACT), is a professional voluntary organisation based at Bhuj with a mission to strengthen livelihoods of communities in arid and semi-arid regions of that area. Harmirsar Lake and its integrated catchment system in Bhuj city is one of the remarkable examples of people's wisdom to satisfy their needs through natural resource management even in drought prone region. Since the last two years ACT is working aggressively on people's awareness of Hamirsar lake and its catchment systems. ACT has formulated a citizen's committee -- "Hamirsar Sneh Samvardhan Samiti" (HSSS) to organize and implement various awareness activities. Among the activities that have been undertaken are a painting competition that saw very encouraging response. The calendar is based primarily on these posters done by the students. The calendar is rounded out by thought-provoking points drawing attention to our cultural heritage and our responsibility to protect it and photos showing different perspectives of the lake.
