Image and Content Courtesy: WHOOBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council aims to accelerate the achievement of sustainable sanitation, hygiene and water services for all people, with special attention to the unserved poor, by enhancing collaboration and coordination of all sector stakeholders. It achieves this aim through networking and knowledge management, advocacy and awareness raising campaigns, and managing a global fund that disburses grants for improved sanitation and hygiene in developing countries. Under the direction of the Executive Director, WSSCC. Description of duties: The incumbent professionally supports the Programme Manager responsible for the effective disbursement of $10-100m per year through the Trust Fund. The incumbent works in accordance with the strategic objectives and established guidelines and with internal and external professionals in the fields of sanitation and hygiene, procurement of services, project management and monitoring . The incumbent is guided by the Programme Manager but is expected to take initiative and to be responsible for particular professional aspects of the Grants Management team's work. Deadline for application : 19 March 2009 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:Essential Advanced university degree level (or its equivalent) in public health and hygiene, civil engineering, public health engineering or another relevant degree. Desirable Qualification in project management, finance, business administration, international development, social development . Skills: Mature judgement, knowledge and experience of sanitation and hygiene programmes in developing countries, project management and procurement. Knowledge of the international agencies working in the field of sanitation and hygiene is desirable. WHO competencies: - Producing results - Ensuring the effective use of resources - Fostering integration and teamwork - Communicating in a credible and effective way - Knowing and managing yourself Experience:Essential At least 6 years of practical experience in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector, including at least 3 years' experience in project management . Desirable At least 1 year's experience of working for/with international Trust Funds.
