"Top to bottom, water and soil", is a case study from the Marathwada region, written by Sureka Sule, in October 2005, which demonstrates that harvesting water and conserving soil is required not just in the lower elevations but also in higher reaches, as the people based there suffer more without water and additionally valuable topsoil is washed away if no percolation takes place at higher levels.
