"Rolling Back the Tsunami", is a short case study, that appeared in the Civil Society Magazine, describing the work of Ms. Bhuvana Kannan, Coordinator with the Covenant Centre for Development (CCD) Madurai, and local farmers, in reviving the salt-laden farms of the village of Poompuhar in Sirkali taluk of Nagapattinam district, one of the worst-affected areas after the Tsunami in 2005, through work on SRI and land development activities.

The Covenant Centre for Development, initiated in 1988, head-quartered at Madurai, works with various communities in over 150 villages in over 6 districts of Tamil Nadu. CCD's main areas of work are encouraging women to manage financial resources for economic security, conserving natural resources through local community action for ecological sustainability and organising communities to enhance their capacities to use traditional skills for a better livelihood.
