Environment Support Group (ESG), an NGO based in Bangalore draws attention to a landfill at Mavallipura village near Bangalore International airport which is being managed by a private operator. The press release attached is by Sruthi Subbanna from ESG and details the damage being carried out which has had multiple ramifications on people's health, the lives of cattle & birds, watershed of Arkavathi River, and safety of Yelahanka Air Force Base, which is 5.5 kms from the landfill. The residents and Dalit Sangarsh Samithi of Mavalipura, supported by ESG call for action by the Chief Minister of Karnataka and the authorities.
