Planning Commission report on groundwater

The September 2007 report on groundwater looks primarily at the problem of rural depletion of groundwater and feasibility and necessity of changing groundwater law

The September 2007 report of the Expert Group on "Ground Water Management and Ownership" of the Planning Commission is available from the Commission. The report looks primarily at the problem of rural depletion of groundwater and feasibility and necessity of changing groundwater law.

You can get the report at the Planning Commission website or here on the Portal (look under Policies)

There was also the National Groundwater Congress meeting recently in New Delhi organised by the CGWB.

Perhaps India Water Portal should facilitate some discussion around groundwater in the light of these recent government initiatives. Suggestions are welcome on what would be useful regarding this, they can be posted to portal@arghyam.org
