National seminar on affordable and acceptable sanitation for rural India, 2016

Lack of adequate sanitation is a pressing chanllenge, especially in rural India. The government has employed several approaches over the last few decades to overcome the issue including the implementation of the Central Rural Sanitation Programme of the 1980s to the Total Sanitation Campaign and the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan of recent times. 
 
Organized by the School of Earth Sciences, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded and The Institution of Engineers, Aurangabad, the National seminar on affordable and acceptable sanitation for rural India (AASRI 2016) will witness deliberations on issues such as the link between sanitation, health and hygiene in rural India, rural-friendly water treatment options, traditional water and waste water treatment systems, eco-friendly toilet options and the role of NGOs and public participation for better sanitaton among others.
