"Rural water supply: The Hebballi experience", a report by S Vishwanath, written in August 2007, is the story of the village of Hebballi in the Krishna river basin, which is a striking example of a successful and sustainable piped water supply in rural India. While challenges still remain, this experience shows that some steps towards equity and sustainability can be taken in many other places too.
