Ecological Society cordially invites you to the release of the book "Nirzar Gaan" (A Guidebook on Stream Restoration in Marathi) The book will be released by Shri Girish Sohoni (Executive Vice President, BAIF) Chief Guest: Shri Vishwanath Srikantaiah (Urban Planner and Expert of Rain Water Harvesting, Bangalore) Smt Parimal Chaudhari (Managing Trustee, Praj Foundation) will grace the occasion as Guest of Honor. *A short film on Nirmal Ganga Abhiyan will be screened on the occasion. About the book- Nirzar Gaan is an outcome of 'Nirmal Ganga Abhiyan', a programme of Ecological Restoration of streams. Ecological Society has initiated this programme in certain villages with the active involvement of villagers. Nirmal Ganga Abhiyan is a new approach to the management of streams based on an ecological perspective. The book "Nirzar Gaan" narrates the methodology for carrying out stream restoration project, starting with understanding of ecological processes and biodiversity. It describes how to tackle ecological restoration. The book also provides simple techniques of survey, planning, implementation and monitoring. The book will be useful to anyone desiring to ecologically develop streams. Convocation Ceremony: Ecological Society has been running for the last 11 years a one year post graduate certificate course in Nature Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources. Certificates to the successful candidates will be distributed during the same event.
