Background

Runti is with IIT Guwahati and is presently working on a UNICEF - IIT Guwahati supported Water Safety and Security Programme in the rural areas of Assam. As an integral part of this programme, they support a certain number of water quality analysis laboratories in the region. 

Input required

In this regard, members of the Water Community are requested to please share the following:

• Are there any examples of effective laboratory-based water quality monitoring programmes in your area?
• How effective have these programmes been in terms of making communities realize the importance of testing their water sources in the existing laboratories in their area?
• Are there examples of any existing methodologies/strategies to assess if the complete cycle of such efforts (from sample collection to result dissemination among the communities) is effectively working?
