What are the points to be borne in mind while deciding between an openwell and a borewell for a 7.5 acre farm in Dhoni district, Palakkad , Kerala. This farm has a small stream near by. But in summer the stream goes dry. There is no power supply there and hence we plan to use an oil pump .

If anyone can suggest the difference between the two wells it will be a great help. Also any suggestons on deciding a contractor to dig a well to ensure they dig at a place where water is available?
