1. Law related to the testing of Bore well water? Is it mandatory to test quality / potability of Tube well water before one starts using it for potable purposes?

2. Competent authority for testing of water and ensuring compliance in residential areas?

I believe that there is no mandatory law requiring testing of bore well water . My observation is that government gives permission for bore well and does not insist on testing water quality. Bore well is common source of water for a community. Testing of water quality involves money, effort and in most cases people do not want to test the same.
