If a lake becomes completely dead eg. due to excess amount of N & P (Eutrophication, algal bloom), is there a solution 

I am not referring to a particular lake, this is a general question. Normal causes are detergents, pesticides and fertilizers which reach the lake as runoff.

This is a problem which most Indian lakes are facing. There are various methods to control eutrophication, but are there ways to revive dead lakes or remove the N & P ?
