Water Bank - Video about a Farmer-Scientist's work on harvesting rainwater in drought-prone Ankoli village, Solapur, Maharashtra
This video from the marathi news channel Star Majha, describes farmer-scientist Arun Deshpande's work on conserving water, through a "Water Bank", in other words, an on-farm pond with a capacity of about 5 crore litres of water, in drought-prone Solapur district of Maharashtra.
Arun is part of Prayog Pariwar (a collaborative network of self-experimenting farmers, initiated by renowned scientist Shripad Dabholkar) and some more details about his work on watershed development are here. Arun's blog is here.

Dear Mr. Arun Deshpande,
Your interview on MADHURA (dtd. 13th Oct 2011) was illumination for all the viewers who were lucky to watch the programme.
A totally different view point on the subject
Am I right in thinking that like air, the water also gets recycled again and again over period of time & that virtually, our forefathers used the same water in their life time which we are using today.
Can we therefore say that the water gets transformed in to various forms during all the processes in the universe & could be considered as a catelist in various processes, Thus, water does not get consumed theoretically & that the total vu\irtual water content in the universe in all the forms would remain constant??
Could you please comment on the above.
