Water conservation and harvesting by industry - A case study of Hindalco Industries Limited - Renukoot
This presentation describes the work of Hindalco Industries in water conservation and harvesting, in Renukoot. The work taken up includes lift irrigation projects, construction of small check dams, rainwater harvesting, promotion of horticulture and timber plantation, promotion of composting and cattle vaccination.
These interventions resulted in improvement of overall incomes of farmers, as well as increase in groundwater levels.
This work won the CII-GBC National Award (Beyond the Fence Category) for Excellence in Water Management in 2008.
