A unique urban water management approach from Kolkatta
The Kolkata approach is a unique urban wastewater management approach. Here the raw sewage from the city is directed into the East Kolkata wetland area (a Ramsar site). The sewage feeds a vast fishery industry which caters to as much as one-third of Kolkota's fish consumption. While the system is not without its problems, it is a striking example of what is possible by harnessing nature's processes
