Broadly, land use in the basin can be divided into four categories; arable, non arable, forest land and land for habitation. Total forest cover in the basin comes out to be 19.53% and the rest of the area is inhabited. Among the inhabited areas, rural and urban areas form two distinct kinds of habitations.
