Guidelines for septage management by the government of Tamil Nadu – An overtly ambitious policy document? - Kannan Pasupathiraj

Although the intention of the policy is to enforce proper design of septic tanks with proper disposal of sludge, the details of the plan, design of a septic tank and sludge handling facility that it works out seem to be too ambitious and unrealistic with no consideration for  the time frame and poor technical details that seem to be incorrect in terms of the actual capacity required. What is clear is that this document is only intended to issue licences to truck operators and create a layer of bureaucracy with a limited intention to solve the challenges faced in sewage and waste water management where the common person would be left to pay more for the sewage tanker lorries.
