Meteorological Datasets
Meteorological data is essential for water resource planning and research. In India, this data is difficult to obtain for the average citizen. In this application, entire datasets for various meteorological indicators from 1901 to 2002, for any part of India, is made available for users, in a simple format.
We are currently working on getting a file download of the 100 year data. Mail us at contact@indiawaterportal.org to keep you posted.

11. Daily historical data sets
First I should thank you for you efforts to put the data sets on the web. Its a great work. Kindly help me in getting the district wise daily historical weather dat for Karnataka from 1960 to 2005. I am in need of this for studies related to impact of climate change on food production in Karnataka.
10. MET DATA

9. CRU TS 3.0
Thank you for the Climate Research Unit (CRU) TS2.1 dataset, Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. It is indeed very helpful.
However, since my reserach requires data upto 2006 or more, I would like to use the newer version called CRU TS3.0 (SEE LINK BELOW) of the dataset. I read that you have adopted a complicated process to adapt the CRU TS2.1 dataset to India, would it be possible to let me know if you are working on the adaptation of CRU TS3.0 dataset to India? And if yes, when is it expected to be available?

I would appreciate an early reply from you!

8. Why?
It is a pity it is difficult to obtain such data. Why? Does anybody knows why? Not long ago I watched a documentary about developing countries and it was said that people cannot obtain economy statistical data. The data that are on the public website are very detailed so without making tiresome operations you won't be able to have the picture of what is going on in the country. But this concerns economy, but why there is the same situation with meteorological data?

4. met.dataset
Thanks for the met. data set.It is a boon for any one interested in studies on water.Thee data may be reliable for homogeneous districts. However caution is needed while using the data for hill districts especially those situated in rainshadow areas, For example the average annual rainfall of Hassan district, Karnataka according to the Met set is around 2000 mm. Whereas as per IMD it is around 1000 mm. This point should be noted while using data locally.

3. 2003 data gap
I wonder if the current data gap for 2003 can be filled in?
This is an excellent job, but when looking for continuous time series climate data (e.g. 1970s through till 2009, the year 2003 is missing)
please help!

1. Great Step
Firstup I congratulate and thank you for putting up this great step and efforts. While I fully agree that getting meteorological data is not that easy at least in India, The querry regarding the Source of this data arises in my mind. May I know the source of the data that is being generated for various meteorological parameters in this application.I shall be indebted by getting an early reply. Thanks you once again.
