Anupam Mishra tells the story of Sachhidanda Bharati, who helped a village in Uttarakhand realise that their lives could not improve without conserving their ecology. Bharati was involved in the famous Chipko movement that became a symbol of popular environmental conservation. This personal experience made him see that protest and constructive efforts go hand in hand, and he rallied the villagers of Chamoli to stand together against the Forest Department's logging moratorium to protect the forests around Ufrainkhal. Anupam Mishra tells this story to highlight the importance of using traditional knowledge to solve water problems and conserve ecology.
