Organize
We thank you for expressing interest in organizing a community event at your area. Here are some of the details you might want to consider.
- The event could be a simple gathering of about 30-60 people.
- It would be great if the event could be organized in a rural or semi rural area.
- The event could be held in an open venue such as a school ground, under the shade of a tree or community venues such as a community hall, school auditorium, panchayat hall etc.
- We might need an interpreter/translator for languages other than Hindi, English, Kannada and Telugu .
- It would be nice to have diverse set of people in the event – Gram Panchayat members, NGOs, community leaders, children, women, farmers, teachers etc.
- We would appreciate if you could arrange for Tea/Coffee/Snacks for the participants. Arghyam will bear the expenses of the pre-event coordination as well as the event day logistics. Contact k2k@indiawaterportal.org for more details.
- Please inform local press about the event.
- Please ask local community to come up with a Painting. The painting could be on a piece of cloth (a minimum of 1 foot x 1 foot). The painting could reflect the community’s perceptions/ struggles/ aspirations of water through the local art. It could be water paint, oil paint or even embroidery. Anybody can come up with the painting – Children, Self Help Groups, Women, and Local Artists etc. After the journey, all the paintings will be combined to make a giant quilt.
- The entire event will not last longer than 2 hours.
- We would be happy to have some local riders join our ride. Local youth and biking enthusiasts can join us for any number of days between any points on the route.
During the interaction, we will share the stories and photographs from our journey so far. We will also conduct small surveys and discussions among the group. The ride is about learning how people are coping up with water problems.
