Mock Trip

Today in about an hour I would be leaving for a 1000km mock trip. The idea here is to do a mock ride kind of a thing - just to understand what it takes to complete good number of kilometers with all the luggage on my bike.

Yesterday I got my bike fitted with ‘Ladakh Carrier’ and ‘Cigarette Lighter Adapter’. Today before leaving I loaded as much luggage as possible on to my bike. Here is a small list.

  • Tent
  • Sleeping mat
  • Sleeping bags
  • Clothes
  • Camera and Laptop bag
  • Footpump
  • Puncture kit
  • Spares -  Cables, tubes, etc.

I could not handle the attention I got on my way from house to office. My bike looked more like an overloaded auto rickshaw than a cruiser.

I would be back in Bangalore on Monday evening. I will post more details on my trip then.

Hi, would you be passing anywhere near Dehradun? We would love to host you at Vill. Bharatwala, Gram Sabha Bistgaon, Dehradun. Checked up the requirements for hosting an event, think we can manage all that. Do let us know in advance, so that we can gather the hoopla and maybe send off a couple of guys with you.

All the best for the journey, wish I could ride a bike!

Dear Sharada Prasad,
Wish you best of luck in your journey. I am associated with IPER a 35 year old voluntary organisation based in Kolkata a city where the water level is rapidly going down due to indiscriminate use.
We are working with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation forsocial change in diffeent sectors including water.
We shall be happy if we can organise a meeeitng with the slum dwellers in the city.
I know your focus is rural or semi urban areas. But the slums of the metroes too are highly vulnerable in respect of water usage and protection.
Once again wishing you the best for your remarkable plan.
Dr. (Ms) Bijli Mallik

I would be more than happy to visit the slums and interact with people. Please pass me your phone number so that we can discuss and plan further
