Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president R.V. Deshpande on Thursday said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had given instructions to release Rs. 500 crore of the Rs. 1,000 crore that he had announced for flood relief in 15 flood-hit districts of north Karnataka.

Kurnool: Collector Mukesh Kumar Meena asked the housing officials to speed up the construction of houses for flood victims in 34 mandals. Reviewing the special housing programme here on Thursday, he said the temporary shelters should be completed while construction of permanent houses be commenced by January 18.
