Understanding Groundwater: A course by ACWADAM, January 2-17, 2017

How does the groundwater form? How does it move, flow and store? A course designed for professionals from civil society organisations or NGOs

About: Advanced Center for Water Resources Development and Management (ACWADAM) is conducting a fifteen-day training programme on basic hydrogeology or groundwater science, for professionals from civil society organisations or NGOs.

Details: The training is not intended to be a ‘stand alone exercise’ in capacity building, but will be followed by ACWADAM providing facilitation to promising trainee organisations in their respective field areas. 

The training will be conducted in Pune and will cover the following topics:

  1. Introduction to basics of geology
  2. Physical geology and geomorphology
  3. Hydrogeology
  4. Measurement of weather parameters in groundwater resources investigations
  5. Hydrogeology-quantifying groundwater
  6. Springs
  7. Groundwater quality and groundwater resources management 
  8. Geological mapping 
  9. Hydrogeology as a tool for impact assessment
  10. Managing groundwater resources
  11. Data bases and Case studies
  12. Groundwater in agriculture
  13. Hydrogeology and sanitation
