The Lake Development Authority of Bangalore leased out a number of water bodies to private parties for commercial development. Arguing that these schemes were illegal as well as closing of public property from its citizens, Environment Support Group took up a campaign against the privatization of water bodies.
Siruthuli Foundation
Coimbatore was once knows as the ‘Poor Man’s Ooty’ due to its pleasant climate and abundant water resources. However, gross water mismanagement and environmental abuse has lead to climate variations and water shortage. Siruthuli has kicked off a campaign to revive its traditional water management systems and has already reclaimed most of the urban water bodies in the city.
