• The problem of river waters pollution or drying of rivers are common and campaigns to revive rivers, though challenging, can be undertaken with a fair measure of success. As an example, the Arvari River of Rajasthan, that had reduced to a drain over a period of time had almost dried up, when the process of its rejuvenation began. The revival process, initiated by Tarun Bhagat Singh, a non Government organization, that aims to mobilize people on issues related to protection of forests and water resources, began  . with the construction of water harvesting structure called the Johads. The eventual benefits not only benefited the families but led to an gradual rise in water tables in the catchment of river Arvari. Eventually, the flow of the river strengthened, and there was an increase in its aquatic life.  Click here
