Procuring Sprinklers for Farmers : Costs & Subsidies - Uttar Pradesh
Submitted by iwp on April 29, 2009 - 22:30
In villages where water table is falling day by day and the increasing problem of Arsenic in Ground Water due to over exploitation, I think the use of sprinklers can definitely could be a great boon as it conserves water, especially in thickly populated areas of U P .
My question is is there any scheme where farmers could get simple sprinklers. Will making a self help group help?
Please guide us.

Your suggestion could bring in overall improvements in water efficiency as well as nullify the negative impacts on both the health and environment aspects. However, these needs to be adopted in large scale to bring about such desired results.
Subsidies for drip and sprinkler irrigation schemes are usually provided by the Government. However, the policy might be differing state to state. Kindly refer earlier discussions on this topic at the links provided below;

Dear Saurabh Singh,
The micro-irrigation systems are subsidised under National Horticulture Mission- you may contact district Horticulture Officer. Simple and less costly sprinklers/drips are supplied by IDE, India.
