News and Image courtesy the Nasa Earth Observatory The monsoon blankets India in a fresh coat of green in this image of vegetation conditions taken by France's SPOT satellite. Dark green indicating the dense growth of plants between April 1 and April 10, 2008. The US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service says that the April harvest in India yielded a record corn and rice crop. Cultivated and natural plants are thriving in the wake of abundant monsoon rains. In Northern India the landscape is brown in patches indicating where plants are doing less well on an average.
