The Environmental Information Centre & Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has prepared water quality monitoring maps that, at a glance, reflects the various water sources and their locations. For more information, click here


Water is contaminated in different ways depending upon the source. For example, contamination by sewage leads bacteriological contamination while industries cause more of chemicals water pollution.  The water in agricultural fields tends to have more of pesticides residues and fertilizers.
Mapping locations with different types of water pollution is useful for any state. the State Ground and Surface Water Resources Data Centre, WRO/PWD, Chennai has mapped areas with nitrate and total dissolved contents for Tamil Nadu. For more click on
