Incidence of fluorosis has reached alarming levels in certain pockets of the state while the problem is acute in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat

These two maps indicate the percentage of districts affected by fluoride, in each state of the country and also gives data of the range of fluoride concentration in drinking water in each state.

The following map from Fluorosis Vimukthi Vedika indicates the regions that have an high and endemic incidence of fluorosis. It shows that the problem is most severe in Rayalseema and Coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, North and East Karnataka, North Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, and parts of Orissa. It is lowest in Orissa, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala, and is moderately severe in the rest of the country
