Ecological restoration of the slopes around a reservoir is a challenge. Especially the land between the Maximum Draw Down Level and the Full Reservoir level on the shores of the water body has a unique condition. Plants here have to survive fully submerged conditions as well as fully dry conditions. Mrinalinee Vanarase explains the point as also the difficulty of ecological restoration in high rainfall areas where the surface runoff is more damaging than in dry or semi arid areas.
